Thor: God of Thunder Reborn

A mennydörgés istene visszatért és kirobbanó formában van. 

Jason Aaron napjaink egyik legtehetségesebb képregényírója. 2001 óta tartó pályafutása során olyan címeken dolgozott, mint a Ghost Rider, Wolverine, és a Punisher Max. Saját kreálmányai közé tartoznak a Men of Wrath és a Scalped című krimi képregények. 

A 2012-ben útnak indított God of Thunder című sorozatával hamar belopta magát a Thor rajongók szívébe. Az Original Sin eseményei után kezdődő Mighty Thor viszont meglehetősen megosztotta a közönséget. Miután Thor elvesztette hatalmát a pöröly felett, az olyasvalakit talált méltónak, akire senki sem számított: Jane Fostert. Így lett egycsapásra a vihar istenéből istennő. A konzervatívabb olvasók közül sokan felhagytak a képregények vásárlásával, míg a nyitottabbak kifejezetten elismerően nyilatkoztak Lady Thor kalandjairól, akinek az isteni teendők mellett a földi élet egyik legnagyobb ellenségével is meg kellett küzdenie: a rákkal. Az Unworthy Thor című minisorozatban azt is megtudhattuk, hogyan próbálta Odin fia visszaszerezni méltóságát, most pedig, hogy Jane Foster kalandjai véget értek, Thor végre visszabújt a saját bőrébe a Marvel: Fresh Start kezdetével. 

Miután a Mjölnir elpusztult azzal, hogy belerepült a napba, Thornak új fegyverre van szüksége. Ám hiába a törpök fáradhatatlan munkája és Odin áldása, egyetlen pótlék sem éli túl a gigászi összecsapásokat. Ezért hát annyi fegyvert kovácsolnak neki, amennyit csak lehet. Ennek köszönhetően Thor változatos erejű pörölyök és buzogányok egész arzenáljával rendelkezik, amik különböző taktikák kivitelezésére adnak lehetőséget. Mindeközben dúl a háború, a sötét tündék királya, Malekith próbálja leigázni a birodalmakat, Sindr, a hamvak királynője pedig felperzselné a holtak világát tűzgoblinjai segítségével, hogy a gonosz erők szolgálatába állíthassa Niflheimet. 

A TPB. két részre van bontva, az első fele a jelenben, a második a nagyon távoli jövőben játszódik a hajlott korú Thor főszereplésével. Izgalmas karakterekből nincs hiány, szerepel Loki, Balder, Hela, még Thanos és Wolverine is felbukkannak, Aaron igazán elkényeztet minket. Az első részért felelős Mike Del Mondo festményszerű illusztrációi jól passzolnak a mitológiai környezethez, viszont koránt sem tradicionális képregény rajzokról van szó, így elképzelhető, hogy nem mindenkinek fognak tetszeni. Annak, aki olvasta a magyarul is megjelent Loki minisorozatot ismerős lesz ez a stílus, bár némileg eltér Esad Ribic munkásságától. Ezek után veszi kezdetét a „kozmikus kaland”, amiről nem véletlenül ejtünk ilyen kevés szót. Ebben a részben Christian Ward veszi át a stafétát, aki valami egészen hihetetlen módon ragadta meg a fantasy stílust. A felosztás a művészek között indokoltnak mondható, mindkettejük stílusának megvan a maga helye. 

Az Áprilisban induló War of Realms eventre rengeteg utalást találunk, mi pedig örömmel nyugtázzuk, hogy ez is Jason Aaron kezében van. Az eseményt nem csak a Thor rajongóknak lesz érdemes figyelemmel kísérnie, hiszen a mennydörgés istene mellett olyan hősök is Malekith útjába állnak majd, mint a Bosszúállók, a Fantasztikus Négyes, valamint néhány olyan meglepő szövetséges is, mint Venom, vagy Punisher. 

A God of Thunder Reborn egy nagyon erős újrakezdés tele epikus, és vicces pillanatokkal. Ha valakinek nem volt ínyére a Jane Foster időszak, most legfőbb ideje visszatérnie a sorozathoz. Ha pedig még egyáltalán nem olvastál Thor képregényt, most itt a remek alkalom, hogy elkezdd. A War of Realms és a 7-11. részt számláló 2. TPB már előrendelhető.

The son of Odin is back and he is in great form.

Jason Aaron is one of the most talented comic book writers of our era. Since he began his career in 2001, he worked on various titles, such as Ghost Rider, Wolverine and Punisher Max. The crime series called „Scalped” and ,”Men of Wrath” are both his own creation.
He began writing Thor with the God of Thunder series in 2012, which earned the love of the fans pretty soon. Set after the events of Original Sin, his Mighty Thor series got mixed opinions. Since Thor became unworthy of the Mjölnir, it found someone else beyond expectation: Jane Foster. This is how the God of Tunder became a Goddess. Conservative fans dropped the series, while open minded readers spoke in high terms about the adventures of Lady Thor, who also had to fight with one of the biggest threats to human life: Cancer. Meanwhile, there was a mini series called „Unworthy Thor”, where you can read what Thor did in his abscence. And now, with the end of the Jane Foster era, Thor Odinson is back being himself.

After the Mjölnir got destroyed by flying into the sun, Thor needs a new weapon. Neverthless the hard work of the dwarfs and the blessings of Odin, none of the replacements survive the epic battles. So instead they forge as many weapons as they can. As a result, Thor has a whole new arsenal of hammers and maces for different tactical options. Meanwhile, there’s a war spreading: Malekith, the king of dark elves are trying to conquer the realms, while Sindr, the queen of cinders is trying to burn the realm of the dead with the help of her fire goblins, so she can use Niflheim to serve the evil forces.

The TPB is divided for two parts, one takes place in the present, and the one in the distant future, starring with the old Thor. We got lot’s of exciting characters, such as Hela, Loki, Balder, even Thanos and Wolverine shows up. The painting-like illustrations of Mike Del Mundo are great for the mythology setting, however, this is definitely not traditional comic art, so it’s possible that you’re not going to like it. If you liked the Loki mini series, I’m sure you are going to like this as well, even if this is a bit different from the work of Esad Ribic. The „cosmic adventure” takes place in the second part, where Christian Ward took the pencil, and made some pretty awesome fantasy-style panels. The change between the artists makes sense, there’s a place for both of their styles.

The are many references to April’s „War of the Realms” event, which is also going to be written by Jason Aaron. You should follow the event even if you are not the biggest fan of Thor, since other heroes are going to face Malekith as well, such as the Avengers, the Fantastic Four and even some less expected allies, like The Punisher, or Venom. 

The God of Thunder Reborn is a great restart, and it’s full of funny, epic moments.
If you didn’t like The Mighty Thor with Jane Foster, this is a great time to jump back into the series. And if you’ve never read Thor comics before, this is a great place to start.
